Young skin is smooth and elastic because it contains a lot of Hyaluronic Acid”. As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin gradually diminishes. As a result, the skin becomes dryer, thinner and more wrinkled.
As you age, your facial appearance changes. While most people are aware of how repeated facial expressions (like smiling and frowning), sun exposure and hormonal changes may cause noticeable lines and wrinkles, many are not aware of the role that hyaluronic acid plays in the aging process.
As we age, our skin begins to lose hyaluronic acid, which is responsible for maintaining moisture in the skin. It is this moisture that helps hydrate the skin and creates facial volume. Hydration, volume, and elasticity (from collagen) result in a youthful, healthy looking appearance.
The decreased production of hyaluronic acid and collagen over time causes a loss of firmness, volume, and elasticity, often resulting in a sagging or more wrinkled facial appearance.
The good news is that dermal fillers can replace lost volume to help reveal a younger-looking you.
Dermal fillers instantly add volume to smooth away wrinkles and restore youthful skin contours. Clear gel formulations to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers are specifically formulated to act like your own body’s hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers offer tailored treatments to your individual appearance goals. During your consultation, your doctor will decide if dermal fillers are right for you and can develop a treatment regimen to help you achieve your appearance goals. With dermal fillers, the results can be seen instantly. Also, since treatment with dermal fillers is non-surgical, there is no downtime required, allowing you to continue your daily activities.
Fillers used at Mediworks Rejuvenation Centre are a long-lasting but not permanent synthetic form of hyaluronic acid. The gel mimics the naturally occurring substance by adding volume to the skin. When fillers are injected under the surface of the skin, the gel adds volume, and smoothes out lines on the face.
Different products are used for specific areas of the face. For instance the product which will best be used to fill vertical lip lines where lipstick can “run” is different from the one that is used to flatten the folds which occur by the side of the nose and mouth. Other products are most appropriate for filling out the cheekbones or improving the contours of the lips.
The fillers that are used at Dr.Badesha’s Mediworks Rejuvenation Clinic are created from non-animal products and have been proven safe and effective. Reactions to the medications can include redness, swelling, and bruising. These will resolve within 2-5 days. You may apply a cool cloth to the treated area, however please do not expose your filled areas to intense heat (like a hot tub) or cold (like an ice cube) for 24 hours.
Freezing can be used for some areas of the face using topical numbing cream. Please notify the clinic if you have had any reactions to local freezing.
Treatments take about 30 minutes and your results will be visible as soon as the swelling subsides. The recommended time between treatments is 6-12 months.
